Just a little quickie,
This weekend has been interesting. As per my usual self, I am going through a relationship crisis... I seriously believe when I am ready, these will all be a book...
On a whim, I decided to go and be with a friend Saturday night in Edmonton. I took the red arrow, great mode of transportation!! We spent Saturday night and most of Sunday together. We have known each other for 7 years now. But distance keeps us apart, and so does his work. He has always listened to me when I have gotten out of bad relationships, and I have listened to his problems (more his than mine... ;) ) but we always seem to have time to text or talk, but never have time to see. So this weekend, I needed a break, and off I went - only after countless checks... you sure you will be there... you sure you will show.. and it's funny, he did the same thing to me. Both afraid to trust... I arrived in Edmonton... city of champions ahahahahah really, where is the grey cup? How many games have the oilers lost in a row??? ok, ok... but I came here anyway!
He is there at the hotel where I'm dropped off at. There is no hugging, or kissing, just me getting into his car. This is the first time in 7 years we have been together for more than 30 minutes alone. He has no more roommates, so it was just the two of us. We get to his house and he showers, then he takes me out for dinner. After dinner we go back to his place and we watch tv, travelling shows and buying houses internationally. We are close on the couch but not as lovers. It was nice. we laughed, he teased me lots about being not from the city of champions.. and we talked a lot. He seems to take great pride in being an Edmontonian... there is nothing I can help him with on that one. we go to bed, wake up in the morning and it's still comfortable. He takes me for brunch, and then he goes to his work and shows me his truck and all the work he's been doing. it's pretty cool to see what he does all the time. Then we go back to his place again, and he polishes up his brand new 1985 Honda Civic... yes brand new 1985, it has 301 km on it. not thousand, hundred... It's never been driven, It was the last car ever made in Canada, it's the 500,000th car ... and it's his pride and joy. So naturally i take pictures of it all the while teasing him. the stickers are still on it. But it's pretty cute... After that is done, we go back up and he speaks to his daughter on Skype for a bit, and then it's time to go. we have had a relaxing weekend. It was great.
The ride up was almost 4 hours, so I tried to edit photos, unsuccessfully, so I wrote poetry. It felt good to write again. I must continue writing. I feel a book coming on that too.
Now I'm heading home on the bus, writing again... So, weekend over, back to reality... i'll be 50 next week, Sunday. what a horrible sounding age... I hear people telling me it's not that bad lol I will see....
I saw a Facebook ad for a hoodie that says 1964 50 years of being awesome... My daughter wants me to buy it! hahahah maybe....
