Fall Photoshoot

Well, today we finally did it.  My niece was recently engaged and I offered to do an engagement session for her and her fiance.  We had tried a few weeks ago at a beautiful place called McKinnon Flats.  Only fisher people really know where this is.  We drove a bit out of our way and the weather for mid september was awesome.  We trekked for about 35 minutes to get to the hoodoos.  The hoodoos for me, a long time ago, was a special place.  But when we got there, I was feeling no creativity what so ever!!!  It was probably 30 degrees, and we were all hot and sweaty.  So after a few painstakingly hours, I called it quits.  I did take a few shots, but when I got home I was soooo disappointed it was horrible.

We then tried to book a time at the zoo earlier this week, but the zoo closes too early and when we got there, Brad wasn't feeling very good and the time wasn't worth the effort.  So once more we booked another day.  Today.  October 22, 2011.  And what a day it was!!

We started out trying to meet down by the Saddledome, but there was a flames game this afternoon and Ashley and Brad didn't want to deal with all the traffic - understandably so.  So I stayed on the train and got off at 1st Street.  Well, more traffic problems so the meeting place changed again.  We finally meet up and hit our first destination. Old MacDougall School.  This was a favorite place of mine to take wedding photos, good place to start.  When we got there Brad told me he had an ear infection and he still wasn't feeling good.  But he is such a great sport, he trudged through it all and gave some fantastic images!!  Thank you Brad!

When we get there, there are three grounds keepers blowing leaves.  Well I was watching them and my face must have had this weird look because all of a sudden all of them were looking at me enough to have the girl approach me.  While I was watching the leaves blowing, my mind was racing, the creativity was flowing fast, I was imagining Ash and Brad in amongst them.  So I asked the girl if they would mind blowing leaves for my couple.  And they did.  I hope they had as much fun as we did!  It was awesome!!  Thank you leaf blowers!!!

Got my fill of fun and awesome shots there, then we went to my next spot for a couple shots.  Had to wait for a wedding to be finished and then got my other winning shot.  Brad again came off like a GQ model.

Next stop was Scottsmans Hill.  My all time favorite place when I was growing up.  Some more cool, different and fun shots up there and we could tell Brad was not feeling very good.  So we called it a night.

The photos look great!!  Here's a preview.  They haven't even seen them yet.  But this is not the best.  Can't have the couple see their pics after everyone else has!

So a great day outside with my niece and soon to be nephew-in-law, wonderful weather, and lots of memories created!  Thank you for being patient with me.  I just wanted you guys to have the perfect shots and today we got em!
